"Every Brilliant Thing" is about resiliency and learning to find delight in the ordinary. It’s about the lengths we will go for the ones we love. We open on our Storyteller sharing their experience of being taken to the hospital at the age of seven after their mother’s first attempt to take her own life. This inspires them to start a list of every brilliant thing about the world. From “ice cream” to “falling in love” to “people who can’t sing but either don’t know or don’t care”. Everything that makes living worthwhile. The Storyteller interacts and connects with the audience while recounting and reliving monumental moments in their life that fundamentally shifted their core. While foundationally a play about depression and relationships, this show grounds itself in hope, laughter, and the act of genuine human connection.
